Medium / 媒介

Cast Sugar, Culinary Ink, Rice Paper

Saccharine Landscapes invites viewers into a dialogue between the seen and the consumed. The installation features architectural forms constructed entirely from refined sugar, which gradually dissolves throughout the exhibition period, mimicking the fleeting nature of memory and taste. This process mirrors the 'ink-wash' technique where forms bleed into the void, creating a landscape that is as fragile as it is sweet.

Visual Documentation

A collection of process studies and archival imagery capturing the evolution and eventual dissolution of edible installations. These artifacts serve as the only permanent record of a medium designed to vanish.

Artist Commentary /

The Transience of Form

My practice is rooted in the belief that art should not only be observed but integrated into the cycle of living and dying. By using sugar and organic compounds to create intricate architectural forms, I invite the audience to witness an inevitable decay. The 'Ink-Wash' series specifically reinterprets traditional landscape painting through desaturated, edible minerals, questioning the weight of history versus the lightness of a single bite. In this space, the boundary between the creator and the consumer dissolves into a shared, temporary ritual.
